We are pleased to welcome Professor Piotr Orleański as a new member of our team!

Piotr is an electronics engineer, systems engineer, and the Director of the Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Over more than 40 years of his career, he has gained extensive experience in the development of satellite scientific instruments. He has participated in over 20 space missions, including:

  • Herschel (ESA) – far-infrared space telescope,
  • Solar Orbiter (ESA/NASA) – close-range observations of the Sun in the X-ray range,
  • BRITE – the first Polish scientific satellites dedicated to visible spectrum observations.

Currently, six instruments he contributed to are operational in space. These include devices on Earth’s orbit (including aboard the International Space Station), on Mars orbit, near the Sun, and one en route to Mercury.

As part of the team, Piotr will lead all tasks related to space engineering, serving as HYADES Chief Space Engineer.
